Windows 8.1

Postby Bullet Magnet » November 1st, 2013, 9:27 am

I tried to install Windows 8.1 last night and guess what halted the process? Delta Force 2.

After downloading the massive update, it began to install and then popped open a message saying the installation could not continue until DF2 was uninstalled. I uninstalled it and tried to run the update again, but the installation still complained that DF2 was installed. I restarted the computer to no avail. Given that the installation is performed inside the terrible, worthless Windows store, I have absolutely no customization over the installation and no detailed error messages to go off of. Now, Windows 8.1 is trying to download itself again, so I have to sit and wait for another 3.5GB download, even though it's already somewhere on my PC.

I doubt Zorro had DF2 installed when he went to 8.1. What about you, Pause? Experience any problems like this?

I get a free copy of Win8.1 from DreamSpark, so I'm tempted to download the .iso from there (I presume it's an .iso... it may just lead me back to the stupid store). I'm not sure if that's a clean install only or if it will also upgrade from an existing Win8 installation.

Oh, and I wish Windows would stop calling my stuff like DF2 "apps." It's a disservice to compare actual software to Windows Store crapps.

My Windows 8 install lacks DF2 so I cannot comment on how DF2 affects the 8.1 upgrade process. As a side note, the Windows Store did improve a bit with the 8.1 release, but it's still worthless overall as you point out.
Research shows that one in three Clinton supporters are just as stupid as the other two.
