Body Image in Acrobatic Gymnastics
"The appearance of the body in modern societies has become an increasingly relevant factor for the welfare of the Human Being. In gymnastic, sport in which the body is of great importance for its form and its aesthetic appeal, there could eventually appear cases of problems related to a wrong body image or influences that may affect the proper construction of it. We then seek to realize the hidden forces that can somehow shape the image of the practitioners of Acrobatic Gymnastics, as well as how they are affected. The discussion of the problem is undoubtedly of considerable importance for professionals of the sport, especially for those who deal with adolescents constantly influenced by the idea created by themselves of what is human beauty.
This study's main objective is to understand the relationship between perception and social pressures in the construction of body image in Acrobatic Gymnastics.
The sample for this study consists of 8 practitioners of Acrobatic Gymnastics of both sexes, aged between 13 and 19 years. To achieve the same, we did 8 interviews in a semi-structured open response to all subjects in the sample, which included questions that we find relevant to achieve a response that helps to take away valuable information for this study.
After analysis and discussion of results, we concluded that the gymnasts interviwed are happy with the body they have, meaning that they have a positive Body Image of themselves. There is however some who criticize certain parts of theyr body. We also concluded that there are indeed pressures involved in the construction of body image of Gymnasts."
There may be 1 or 2 mistakes, but screw that man , im freaking happy
