Domain flipping

For general talk about Cloud Nine / DF2.

Domain flipping

Postby BlackCat » April 5th, 2014, 7:06 pm

I bought 29 domains today. I haven't gone on a domain shopping spree in awhile but maaaann, it's getting harder and harder; I swear almost all of the good .coms are taken already. Some domains I checked shocked me to find out that they've been taken already. Are we going to start seeing more extensions? Because there's no way some of the domains I bought a few years ago would still be available today.

What happens in 2025 when teen blogger Jane Doe wants to buy a domain but not a super long and lame one because all of the other domains are either taken or for sale at $2,000?

It seems to me like domains are running scarce... will .coms always be the most prestigious?

What is the purpose in buying them? Do you actually sell them? Are they investments? I'm not aware of the process.

Yeah, they're assets for sure. It's kind of like real estate but for the web; you can buy them and sell them.

.com, .net, and .org domain speculation is not very profitable anymore for most people. I'd recommend you look into some of the new TDLs like .guru, .repair, .support, .today, and .center. I have reason to believe these TDLs have huge potential since the vast majority of web users are now familiar with typing in something other than .com, .net, and .org at the end of a name.
Research shows that one in three Clinton supporters are just as stupid as the other two.

Okay. You know the new TDLs coming in the next couple weeks? .marketing, for example. How do I be the first one to register internet.marketing, for instance? Is it all about speed? I wonder how many other people will be waiting for the clock to turn, frantically trying to acquire it.
