PassShed Revisited (v1.1.0)

For general talk about Cloud Nine / DF2.

PassShed Revisited (v1.1.0)

Postby Bullet Magnet » May 25th, 2014, 6:52 am

I've finally taken PassShed out of its beta stage and am releasing a fully functional overhaul of the application. I decided to restart the versioning scheme given the massive changes in this version.

I would appreciate any testing/feedback. I would also suggest uninstalling previous versions before using this one. While it's not technically a beta anymore, I've only been able to test on a few PCs and virtual machines. It seems to run fine on Windows XP+, but be sure to let me know if you get any OS-specific errors.

BluShark! Woot woot!! love it!

Win8.1 - it gets snagged by the "SmartScreen" as an unknown developer. Is there a way to register w/ MS?

Otherwise its lookin good!

Hmmm, I'm unaware of how SmartScreen works. I'll read up on it and see.

Installation and first-time use went well?

The only issues I'm looking at now are that it requires the .NET Framework 4 (when I explicitly set the target version to 3.5) and I'll need to verify that the update feature works for you guys.

Apparently, you have to pay to have your application digitally signed and thus to bypass the SmartScreen filter.

I'm obviously not going to do that (M$ slang actually applies in this case). First-time users will just have to allow the application. I believe that if enough people use it on Windows 8/8.1, it will eventually make the safe whitelist on their end.

I've already uploaded v1.1.0.

Pause and anyone else who downloaded v1.0.0, you'll want to manually download and install this update as the update functionality was broken in v1.0.0.

Much, much better than the previous version. You must sell copies of it now. It's time.

Updated to 1.1.1.

Could someone run their version and test the update functionality? Preferably the 'Download & Install Automatically' option.

Works fine. The update did not delete the data I had in there before.

Security breaches are happening left and right and billions of passwords are being stolen. This calls for a dramatic increase in password differentiation, thereby increasing the demand for password managers such as PassShed.

BM, it's time to capitalize. :salut:

Truer (that's a weird word) words have never been spoken, BC. Except by Rosa Parks. What a brave woman.
