Revival of DF2

For general talk about Cloud Nine / DF2.

If not for the blatant cheating, I'd be happy to join but as long as there's an alliance with a known cheater here, I'm am disinclined to acquiesce to this request. But, thanks for asking! I miss the game terribly. Good Luck.

Well, as long as the effort is made to get it out there (with a much easier method of getting/playing the game), hopefully it will attract some new people.

I like the idea of custom map contests and I do miss the mission editor! I can't wait for Pause to get his backups going so we can get started.

Who remembers MapMakersHeaven's map of the month contest? Ooooh boy, was that fun. DF2 needs new content... new maps. Zorro's map making skills, for instance, blew me away. I'll never forget when I downloaded one of his packs before I even knew him. It was so much different than anything I'd ever seen. The contrast, the ideas, etc. I really can't wait to get back to shooting you all in CiX Open!

And remember, only a couple years ago I was hosting a 24/7 server with a full house almost every night. The interest is still out there. Right now, there isn't much of a consensus of the "go-to" DF2 server. Enter CiX Open. Remember, when there isn't much flavor in servers, you can capitalize.

In 2007, I recall almost everyone saying "DF2 is dead." Here we are, almost 10 years later.

@alice - good to see you again! Who is the cheater that you speak of? We'll boot his/her ass anyway, please come back!

@blackcat - those were truly the good old days and I think we'd all love to relive them again, but on a more permanent basis. Pause is working on setting up a permanent DF2 server we can all game in. If he has trouble, would you be able to set one up in the interim or assist?

MapMakersHeaven was my life. I miss that site soooo much. I wish I wouldn't have been so young back then so that I could've contributed more.

Zorro's map pack was indeed sweet. I think it was called UMP?

BTW Pause/anybody, I've collected nearly every DF2 file, program, etc. that exists over the years, so let me know if you need anything.

Pause might very well take you up on this. As mentioned previously, he is in the process of getting a VM up, but I am unsure if he may or may not have something. Maybe the two of you can compare notes.
